“Another great book signing at one of my favorite hangouts, Ironclad Golf and Beer Garden. Nothing like sitting in the now famous James Ward Family Cabin and signing a lot of books for my friends and neighbors from the local Hampstead, NC area. The ‘cabin’, as so many know, is actually the large backdrop created by the great artist Melanie Eger of the upper Pennsylvania area and her rendering for the cover of the book, ‘For Twenty Dollars in Gold, A Story of the Civil War’. Can’t thank my entire crew of Melanie, Brian Ward, and the fine folks at Cary Press for what they have created with my little story. Thanks to everyone and if you like stories with a message, I think you will like it too. Amazon will be glad to help you get a copy anf if I am in your area, don’t hesitate to bring it in and I’ll sign it!!
“Wow!! Had a fantastic visit with the fine folks in Gatlinburg, TN recently and shared the story behind the novel ‘For Twenty Dollars in Gold, A Story of the Civil War. Our venue was well above the town and the view that evening was breath-taking!. Many thanks to the folks at Jason Aldean’s for a great luncheon even. This photo was taken from our cabin above the city that night and no bears were harmed in the trip (although we saw several!!).
“Love it when I get invited to talk about my writing. Storytelling is what I do and to me, it’s easy. Us North Carolina boys just let the story tell itself. Radio is fun (nobody has to look at me!!) and we have commercials. I encourage you to visit our website accarlward.com and our YouTube Channel at ACARLWARD3429, for more exclusive information about the current books in our library. It is also where you will find our forthcoming books in the near future, like ‘If I Only Had Wings’ due out July 1, 2024, and readily available in hardback, paperback, and kindle formats.
One of our visits to promote the book ‘For Twenty Dollars in Gold, A Story of the Civil War’ brought us to the annual Faith Harbor United Methodist Church annual Christmas Bazaar. It was a big event, and we sold more Christmas presents than we ever imagined. Big thanks to Pastor Chryst and the entire FHUMC community for their support, not only for the book but for the need for support of the ‘marginalized’ folks in our community. Just like one of the themes in the book, we are to be courageous and take care of ‘family’. Not only did we sell the Civil War book, but the ‘A Dragon Under the Mountain’ book did well again! Got to love those dragons in our lives!!
Had the opportunity to share my story ‘For Twenty Dollars in Gold, A Story of the Civil War’ with the fine folks at the Brunswick Civil War Round Table located in Brunswick County, NC. Not only that but I had the opportunity to share with the Sutler’s Store (far left corner and Civil War version of Walmart) over 100 books I used for research and development of the novel. While a lot of books, I still have nearl another hundred similar volumes to offer to the Round Table in the future. History is to be shared and I can’t imagine a better place to share it. The BCWRT has been a great find for me and very entertaining as well. The books will be appropriately available for purchase to support the BCWRT programs and mission.
Hey, just a quick update. The latest book comes out on Amazon on July 1. This one is a little dark for some, but I think it has an important message for those of us that are always searching for our true purpose in life. Here is a teaser for you. ‘How many times do you have to face certain death before you realize, you’re not ‘just lucky’ or it’s just a coincidence?’ When do the circumstances in your life suggest to you there are other entities at play in your life? What has occurred in your life that might suggest you were meant for greater things? How do you discover what your own life’s mission is and truly worth? Where does fate and faith meet in a single lifetime? Who is really the ‘Captain of their own soul’? And, in the end, can you truthfully answer the important question, ‘Why me?’ Follow the life of a man who found the answers to his many questions after eighty-two years working through his struggles to reconcile the purpose for his life. Why the need for wings, if you can’t fly?
